Yoga is an ancient form of exercise that has originated in ancient India. Yoga is originally not an acrobatic or hyper active form of exercise. It is a slow and meaningfully practiced exercise regime that requires mental concentration and physical control. Students of yoga learn how to understand the rhythms of their bodies and how to understand the limits of their bodies. Using this knowledge, a trained student can perform many different yoga postures which are targeted at different areas of the body. Yoga postures are used in sequences so that an entire logical arrangement of yoga postures can be performed at once.

BKS Iyengar is a famous yoga teacher in India. Iyengar yoga postures are modifications of the hatha yoga postures that have been around for generations. Under the Iyengar yoga postures method, one uses props and aids to help achieve positions. The logic behind Iyengar yoga postures is that the individual should be able to achieve every single asana. Once this is done, the aids are gradually reduced over a period of time until the individual is able to practice Iyengar yoga postures without the assistance of props or aids. This form of yoga instruction has become quite popular because beginners find it easy to adopt. As the beginner progresses, he or she will automatically be able to do certain positions without the assistance of the props that were originally provided to the individual.
There are numerous yoga postures benefits for people who practice this form of exercise. Yoga allows the body to be more flexible and also improves blood circulation. This makes the body capable of performing many daily tasks that would otherwise cause pain and discomfort to the individual. Individuals who practice yoga regularly will be fitter than individuals who do not exercise. Improved fitness helps the body deal with various medical problems and makes provides the individual with an improved quality of life.
