All About Flip Charity

Flip, the Future Leaders in Philanthropy, has come about thanks to the joint efforts of Credit Suisse, and the Bonita Trust. These organisations are seeking to find young people who are academically excelling, in order to mentor and teach them. The project aims to teach these teenagers management skills so that they can take care of a charitable investment portfolio effectively.
Through these efforts, Flip aims to show these young people the importance of social responsibility so that the future can be a more charitable and philanthropic place. While the teenagers may not necessarily go on to do specifically charity work in their careers, the aim is that these future business leaders or entrepreneurs will have the means to foster charitable giving and work with charitable organisations in whatever they may end up doing in the future.
The project is specifically aimed at students who are over the age of 16 and can be involved in the three year project. This age group will benefit from being brought charity awareness and a sense of social responsibility.
With the Flip project, young people will get the opportunity ...
... to learn hands on, through role play with the management of a virtual philanthropic investment of £5 million. This virtual philanthropic investment portfolio and its accompanying charity fundraising project will give the young people a true sense of the work it takes to engage in philanthropic giving. However, by giving the teenagers a taste for the business world and how the system works, they will have the skills to engage with charitable giving later on in life.
Within these projects, the students are given assignments which they must complete over three years. The assignments include financial and charitable assignments, and when they are carried out successfully the young people can reap financial rewards and gifts. When starting the Flip project, the young people can select a charity that they are interested in to undertake a fundraising project for.
Through this comprehensive educational and hands on project, teenagers can make a huge different with the community in Gibraltar. The project also invests in a better philanthropy future, so that hopefully in days to come there will be no need for charity as everyone has what they need.
The Flip project is no mean feat; it takes a lot of work and is regarded as an educational project, supported by the Department of Education and Training. This means that students in Gibraltar can partake in the program as long as they meet academic requirements.
