The fastest growing market segment of the booming vaporizer industry is the “value” segment. These are vaporizers priced in the $50-$100 range that offer a reasonably no-frills package for entry-level buyers as well as veteran vaporizers looking for a second unit or a backup unit.
The value segment has a number of people that are new to the fun and healthy world of vaporizing. In this article, we are going to do a quick rundown of how to get your inexpensive value vaporizer up and running quickly.
When you get the unit home, plug it in and increase its temperature as high as it will go. The temperature is the digital readout on the front and you adjust it by dialing the center knob.
The reason that you raise the temperature so high is that it will burn off any manufacturers packing oil on the ceramic heating element located in the center of the front face. Of course, make sure that you are using the unit in a well-ventilated area and that no combustible materials are anywhere close.
Let the unit operate at this high temperature for 30 minutes on the first day you have it. Do this prior to any usage. ...
... At that point, you can dial the temperature back to around 350° which is a reasonable starting point for most vaporization. Over time you will learn to tweak the temperature depending on the material that you are vaporizing. Each strain has its own optimum temperature. A good idea is to consult vaporizing sites for the best temperature for you.
While the unit is going through its initial burn-in, you can grind the material you are going to vaporize. By grinding it, you expose more surface area to the vapor which provides a cleaner transfer to the whip.
When you're ready, fill the bowl area to no more than a third or half of its maximum capacity. Tamp down gently with a pen, pencil or similar object but do not pack it tight.
Now, make contact with the Pyrex tip to the heating element while being aware of the heat. Hold it in place and take gentle, steady breaths. Take off the Pyrex just before you are done in order to clear the tube. Experiment with drawing different amounts of vapor in order to achieve the most comfortable delivery for you.
You are on your way! Remember, safety first and don't be afraid to experiment with various temperatures. Most material is green at the beginning and will turn light brown as you vaporize it. Once it is completely vaporized it will have a dark brown color. Make sure to clean the tube, the whip and the main unit on a regular basis and you can be sure to enjoy it for years to come.
