Bathroom Water Damage Prevention Part 2
At Able Restoration, we understand just how water damage can occur which makes us experts when it comes to preventing it or the need for mold remediation. To help prevent water damage in your bathroom read below.
Toilet
Toilets are typically one of the most susceptible water junctions in your entire home. Due to toilet leaks involving both clean water and sewage water, these types of leaks have a tendency to be more health hazardous and more likely to create structural damage.
The toilet’s water lines should be checked frequently for leaks around the toilet seat, in the water hose, and even under the actual water tank. Any and all noticeable leaks should be repaired immediately. In addition, check for leaks in the actual toilets rim and around the tank seals. Replace if any damage is found. Also, be aware of soft floors since damage can possibly already be occurring.
A good thing to know is that hanging toilet bowl deodorants often increase chances of clogging.
The Shower and Bathtub
The shower and bathtub is frequently exposed to great amounts of water on a daily basis. Due to this, ...
... the shower and bathtub require a special amount of attention in order to keep it well maintained.
To start, check all tiles and immediately replace any that are cracked. Prevent water from finding its way behind tiles, by making sure grout is not missing between any tiles. Caulking at joints where walls meet the floor or tub, should be regularly inspected and replaced if cracked or loose.
Drains that are clogged and other obscure plumbing problems will prevent bathtubs and showers from drying completely after its use. Be sure to keep pipes free of clogs and have the pipes regularly inspected. Keep an eye out for soft areas or discolored areas around the tub and walls since it could indicate a leak.
