The gemstones used are rubies, emeralds and sapphires. Synthetic stones also produce a great appearance while reducing the cost of the ring. It will take a keen eye to spot the difference.

This means that the law can allow the giver of the ring to claim it back when the need to do so arises. There have been cases where by one partner sues another for mishandling the ring and the court rules in their favor. Traditionally the rule stands that when the engagement fails and the man breaks the engagement, then the woman cannot be compelled to give back the ring, but legally this can be contested in court and some rulings have been made that instructed the return of the ring.
