What is Hypoglycemia?

Hypoglycemia is a condition that occurs when your blood sugar or glucose is too lower than normal level of blood sugar or glucose. Blood sugar below 70 mg/dL is believed low and if the blood sugar is goes lower than 70 mg/dL that can harm you. The symptoms of hypoglycemia can vary to person to person. Hypoglycemia is relatively common in persons who have diabetes. There are different types of hypoglycemia which varies person to person.

Mild Hypoglycemia: Mild Hypoglycemia occurs usually when the blood sugar level goes lower than 70 mg/dL. You will feel nervous, extreme hunger, wet skin, cold, speedy heart beat and numbness.

Moderate Hypoglycemia: Moderate Hypoglycemia occurs when the blood sugar level goes below 50 mg/dL. During this you mood changes, confusion, restless, difficulty in thinking, lack of energy, difficulty in speaking, walking, anger and drowsiness.

Severe Hypoglycemia: Severe Hypoglycemia occurs when blood sugar falls below 35 mg/dL. During this time you will loose consciousness and your body temperature will come down.

Medicines such as monoamine oxidase inhibitors which is used to treat depression, quinine sulfate which is used to treat malaria and asprin
Diseases that affect the liver, pancreas, kidneys, adrenal glands, or other organs
Drinking too much alcohol
Problems caused by stomach surgery
Metabolic problems that run in families

Treatment of Low blood sugar:

If you have symptoms of low blood sugar then you should eat and drink something with sugar. For instance you can drink skimmed milk, raisins, candy, fruit juice which has glucose and you may also take glucose tablets. Speak to your doctor check with the doctor whether you can change your diet, change the medicines you take or change the exercises.
