Have fun conversations with your child or children. Avoid interrupting and be sure to give your full attention. Let your child or children finish their thought (s) and complete their sentences. This will help them feel that you are interested in what they are saying and teach them how a conversation works – two ways.
Place a few games with your child or children. Make certain the game is interesting and takes advantage of your child’s strengths. Allow them to learn a few things from the game for example – taking turns, the object of the game, new colors, new numbers, etc. Most importantly, there are NO losers.
Encourage your child or children to try something new. Don’t forget to tell them that if they make a mistake, it’s OK. Remind your child that no one is perfect and practice will help them succeed.
