The Indian wedding is a celebration of a lifelong union sealed in front of happy faces of family and friends. A joyous celebration unites everyone to swing into the party mood, happily wishing and praying for a new couple’s eternal marital bliss. Everything about the Indian wedding is special. Be it décor, flowers, food, costumes, jewelry, music, rituals, customs, and everything else. Hundreds of people gather to show their excitement and happiness on the holy union of couple and shower their blessings on the occasion of becoming man and wife. Probably that is why, many people including foreigners come to India for sealing their wedding vows and color their emotions with exotic celebration styles of this mesmerizing country.

Since India is the land of cultural potpourri. With different beliefs and religious sentiments, a dozen of unique rituals and customs can be observed throughout. In this article, we will discuss top five customs and ritual symbol to be observed in almost every culture in traditional Indian Hindu wedding. The Turmeric Anointment:
The next most important thing is the turmeric anointment which is usually applies to both bride and her groom just a day before the wedding. Turmeric has a lot of medicinal value and makes the skin look cleaner and glow as well. It opens up the pores and gives it natural shine.

Walking Around the Sacred Fire:
No marriage in India is complete without walking seven times around the sacred fire. This particular moment is greatly admired and enjoyed by all who come to attend the wedding as it is main event which declares the joining of two souls.

The 'Saat Phere'
‘Saat Phere’ or the holy seven steps are the most recognized symbol of the Indian wedding. The seven steps symbolize the seven promises that the couples take in front of their dear ones. These vows will include lifetime promises for providing safety, security, meeting financial, basic and other household responsibilities. Vows of mutual fidelity, togetherness and longevity are also taken as mentioned in the Vedas.

The 'Mangalsutra”
The Mangalsutra is the sacred thread to be worn by the bride after her wedding. The thread holds the importance as the bridegroom ties this on bride’s neck during the wedding rituals. Usually in gold and black beads, mangalsutra can be worn in diamond pendants as well.
