The Benefits Of Decorating Using Paint Spraying
DHM Building Maintenance have invested in the latest equipment to enable them to offer its customers an exceptional painting and decorating service and have built up several years experience using paint spraying so that they can offer solid practical advice on how the use of spraying can yield time savings, and deliver a superior job. Whether you are decorating a shop, factory, house or office DHM Building Maintenance has the experience to deliver the job quickly, efficiently and cost effectively.
We have completed many projects in The City of London, London Docklands and East London and regularly carryout painting and decorating projects for commercial and domestic customers using spraying. Interestingly several customers are at first hesitant about the process but once they have seen the outcome they insist on it every time!
As with many things the secret to good outcomes is in the preparation….! Spraying is just such a thing! The actual time spent putting paint on walls and ceilings is a relatively small part of the total job. The key to the final finish is in the preparation of the surfaces and the masking ...
... up of the work area.
Surprisingly the process its self is not very messy – in fact an experienced spray operator will tell you that there is much less mess using spraying equipment than using brush and roller. One of the reasons for this is that much of the mess in conventional techniques comes from carrying paint on either rollers or brushes to the work surfaces. This is a repetitious motion which results in spill and splatter both on the operator and the work area. The specialist equipment that DHM Use is a “dry-fall” system so that any paint that is over-sprayed falls as dry dust to the floor – no dripping, runs, splattering, smearing etc..
Spraying does not use compressed air which can cause a lot of “over spray” it uses liquid pressure in finely calibrated hoses which is adjusted to match the physical viscosity of the paint liquid so that a fine and even paint covering is achieved on the work area. By using the correct spray heads a skilled operator will be able to paint the work area with the minimal “cutting in” to finish.
The penetration of the paint from spraying is also far superior. This is especially important when, for example, the work area is a dark colour and the requirement is to over-paint in a much lighter colour. Conventional brush and roller will require several coats to achieve the same finish that spraying can achieve in a couple of passes; and of course with a finely calibrated paint covering the drying time is shorter and more consistent.
Time savings are vital in any setting and, in our experience, spraying can deliver huge time economies. Decorative plaster detailing as often found in coving, ceiling roses etc can be time (and material) consuming to cover using conventional brush and roller but with a skilled spray operator paint can be applied in no time and the penetration to a detailed contoured surface is remarkable. The same is also true for that British obsession of the 1970’s and 1980’s - the “artex ceiling!” which is a decorator’s nightmare and can take a long time to cover and consumes a lot of paint…. Not so for spraying – the finish is quick and uniform.
