The city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil is considered by many people as one of the most exciting cities in the world, mostly because of the following reasons: excellent beaches, incredible nightlife, rich culture, the Carnival, along with others as well. Add to all of these the weekly, monthly and annual events, and you got yourself heaven on earth. This upcoming May is no exception to the rule, here is what is going to happen.

Right on the first day of the month, the city celebrates Labor Day. As most of you know, it is recognized internationally as the day when the workers celebrate their achievements throughout their long and prolific history. As far as Rio is concerned, the event will be marked with demonstrations and various shows.

Starting this month and ending in May is the Rio Boat Show at the Marina da Gloria where you can see the newest boat models and all the equipment related to nautical, along with an entertainment program. It is considered to be Latin America’s largest boat show and it attracts a large crowd, including a few celebrities. The venue for this event is Avenida Infante Dom Henrique.

... annual event is the ASP World Tour - Santa Catarina Pro, which is a major event on the ASP World Tour, and takes place at Barra da Tijua in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Here, the world’s best surfers battle it out for a whopping US $500,000 prize, before going to South Africa. The competitive surfing is organized by the ASP - Association of Suring Professional, along a two-tier competition system. WCT - World Championship Tour is the highest available level where the top men and women compete for the prestigious crown of World Champion.

On 10th of the month, the Rio de Janeiro Business & Brazil Real Estate Group meet up will be at the famous “Clandestino Bar”. This is designed mostly for business owners and here they have the possibility to promote it. There are going to be 5” presentations and five of the guest will be sharing their businesses and giving some tips regarding how to make it more successful.

On 25th May of May, the city will be the home of the 17th Annual Latin Oil & Gas Week 2011 Conference.

Victory Day is also going to be celebrated next month, when military ceremonies will be organized in order to commemorate the Allied Victory of World War Ii and are going to be presided over by the President of the Republic.

Lastly, during the entire month the Fashion Rio show is going to be organized. It is the most important fashion event in all Brazil, and throughout the entire month, high rated Brazilian designers and emerging talents will show of their work in exquisite shows.

As you can see, Rio has plenty to offer next month, and this is only just the half of it. In the second part of the article we will continue to offer a brief presentation of what will be organized in this wonderful city.
