The word Logistics is utilized to explain the practice of maintenance, movement and supply of armed forces both in operational conditions and in peacetime. Military Logistics are made according to the battle plans in the early stage of a battle because without logistics aircrafts, helicopters, artilleries, armored carriers cannot be moved or used. It is seen that advanced weapon systems have greater priority in logistics because these kinds of weaponries decide the result of a war. After that comes its means of support such as spares, fuel and ammunitions. Several important decisions depend on the supply of military logistics such as how much of armed forces will be moved to the battle field and what will be the tempo of the war. Logistics is merely about the delivering of materials to the armed forces at the time of war but it can make the manufacturing base and national infrastructure to supply, support and equip the armed forces, it can use the national transportation to move the armed forces and to supply the materials to the deployed forces.

Since the beginning of PBL, several agencies tried to make infrastructure, guidelines and definitions to achieve the goal of sustainment and acquisition integration by performance-based initiatives. While various organizations in several branches of Department of Defense have tried to utilize the Performance Based Logistics approaches in sustainment and acquisition efforts but no acceptable definition exists for PBL. Therefore, execution of Performance Based Logistics is best extemporized and incomplete.

To evaluate the problems in armed forces they held logistics conferences, where all the problems are discussed. In these conferences, after discussing the problems, measures are taken to solve them. Military logistics conferences are very crucial because in these conferences lots of important decisions are taken for the well being of armed forces.
