CreditElves set out to make the hassle of disputing a bit easier my providing a letter template for you to import your unique information regarding your dispute.
In this letter be sure to include what you believe is inaccurate. If you have any proof of that there is an error on the creditors behalf include the information to be submitted to the agency. Once the letter is received by the agency, the agency has 30 days to respond. If the agency agrees that there was a mistake made the agency may be inclined to amend your credit report of they may remove the mishap from your credit report entirely. If your dispute is ruled against you still may consider adding a statement to your credit report explaining the debated issue. This will not do anything for your credit score but it does show an extra effort to rectify the pending situation. The effort is a great reflection on your character which could be helpful in an instance where a loan or job is on the line.
If an agency rules in your favor please be sure that the agency notifies the credit agencies that changes have been made to your report. It is your responsibility to ensure that the credit agencies eventually receive this information.
