Act Exam Test Preparation- Know Your Exam
The ACT exam is given throughout the year under the American College testing program since 1959. The purpose of the exam is to test whether or not the candidates are ready to enter the college-level. The exam is widespread and is used by various US colleges to judge the qualification for merit scholarships.
The ACT exam covers four subjects including English, mathematics, science and reading that are offered in a multiple choice format. Though the writing section had been introduced in 2005, however it is not acceptable in many colleges till date. The 3.5 hours exam is given at various Prometric centers in the months of September, October, December, February, April and June.
Each section of the exam assesses the candidates abilities in different aspects. Here is an overview of what you can expect in the ACT Exam.
English:
The english section of the exam tests your usage and Rhetorical skills. It is a 45-minute exam that consists of 75 questions based on five passages. To excel in the english ...

Mathematics:
The Maths section tests all your mathematics skills that you have been bulding since your seventh grade. It is a 60-minute test that consists of 65 questions coverings subjects like algebra, trigonmetry and geometry. ACT exams permit the use of calculators with paper tapes. This section has five choices instead of normal four choices.
Take maximum practice tests to identify your weaker areas and thus concentrating more on them.
Science:
The science section is more about testing a candidates ability to comprehend chart and graphs rather than testing his skills in subjects like biology and chemistry. The test consists of seven passages followed by five to seven questions each.
The key to make it big in the science section is to refer good ACT study guides and take a lot of practice tests. Practice tests make you familiar with the kind of questions that may be asked and thus make you comfortable with the testing pattern.
Reading:
The reading section will measure your comprehension skills. It will consist of 40 questions based on 4 passages and the the time alloted to complete this section is 35- minutes. The key to success in this section is reading as reading enhances your vocabulary and widens your horizon so that you can comprehend things in a better way.
