How Charts Can Make Your Presentation An Engrossing One?

As the saying goes, “All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy”, a presentation sans charts makes up for a rather dull and a boring presentation. You might be giving all the points that are relevant for paragraphs and paragraphs together but it will only make people bored to death. One proven way of making a quite interesting presentation is to add visual aids like charts and graphs. What you are trying communicate for nearly 10 minutes can be easily communicated in just 2 min with the help of a chart. A chart is rather an important prerequisite for any presentation. It conveys the message in a crisp manner without baffling your target audience.
A well thought out chart can turn out to be a persuasive weapon of your presentation and can serve as an eye catcher for your presentation. It demonstrates to your audience about the various advantages of your idea and how stuff works. It is capable of conveying the important advantages and characteristics more plainly than what words are capable of doing. When words fail to do the trick, charts serve as a good medium of communication and transform the style of your presentation. ...
... In order to construct a good chart, you need to have a clear vision of what you are going to convey and you have to turn it into a visual form which clearly elucidates your message. The point that your chart is trying to convey should be simple and should not complex enough to confuse the spectators. Some of the commonly used types of charts are explained below:
• Pie Charts: Pie charts can be used to express percentage of total and the individual traits that are being assessed. The whole pie represents the total data and the individual slivers can represent a particular group within the whole data.
• Bar Charts: Bar charts can be used at situations which call for a comparison of data. A single bar can represent a single data group. Many such bars can be used to compare the data of various groups.
Once you have settled on the type of chart that you are going to use, make sure that you do not complicate by adding too much effects, just try to keep it simple and stick to the point. In the recent times many presentations are shifting to tablets including Ipads. Presentations on tablets usually employ Flash and Javascript Charts. However, when it became clear that iPad, a device that many of the users were going to view reports on, will not support Flash, a slew of chart developers resorted to Javscript based charts that take advantage of standards like canvas and SVG.
