If you have ever wanted to fly above the clouds in an airplane, you will first need to obtain flight training. Fortunately, this is easier than you think. Training courses almost always include a combination of theoretical education which is done on the ground and practical instruction which is done in the air. Most pilot training schools use simulators that give you a real feeling that you are truly flying.

The minimum number of hours for training for private pilots is usually 40 hours, but it is often 50 to 80 hours of training. The United States in particular offers many flight schools that can vary in cost from eight to ten thousand dollars for a private pilot license to forty to sixty thousand for a license to allow you to fly commercially. Full time students can expect to complete a commercial training program in four to six months. There are universities that offer four year training programs in aviation. Another option is to join the military to obtain your training.

It certainly doesn’t take pilot training to know that an airplane flies because it has wings, and that they go very quickly from one place to the next however there are many things about flying that most of us don’t know. As a novice and without the lengthy education pilots require we don’t really need to know it all. It can be a little unnerving to trust a pilot with our lives and our loved ones when we don’t understand how things work. Will you be the person who chooses to trust the pilot, or the one who chooses to become educated about flight?

We are all curious about flight since the Wright Brothers took their first flight and it still has a certain mystery that surrounds the whole idea. The more we understand about it the more we demystify it. Most often it’s the people who know the least about it that fear flying. It is certainly beneficial to any person to better understand the basics so they can take a flight without being terrified the whole time they are in the air..
