Technology has changed forever the way that a lot of people do business. Concerts sell out online now, thwarting those who lined up at the box office in hopes of being one of the firsts. Any band that you want to hear or see, you can probably find a video of online. Buying tickets for local shows without checking out the groups playing first is almost a thing of the past. Sure, one could consider this a great means of quality control in assessing upcoming events and whether they are one's cup of tea, and that is probably true. It also means that local festivals, shows and other events need to make sure that they have not only a presence online, but also something to show for themselves in order to really even be considered.

That doesn't mean that word of mouth, newspaper reviews and more aren't still popular means of learning about upcoming events, only that the game has been made a little bigger by the Internet. Fortunately that also means that there are now tools to make it all easier. This tends to be a good way to sign up for updates when you're interested in hearing about events of a certain nature, or from specific bands who you always try to catch when they come through your town on tour.

Once you're put together your calender, you're only done if you want to be. After all, isn't half the point of social networks to keep up with people both online and in the real world? It also makes it easier to plan- whether you're wondering when to throw a party or if you are looking for something good going on while your old college friends are in town.
