A number of people desire a brilliant smile with sparkling white teeth. In an attempt to achieve this whitening effect, they consume lots of money on teeth whitening products. Tooth bleaching is just one of the few teeth whitening treatments available that can substantially transform one's teeth.

One of the most requested teeth whitening procedures is tooth bleaching. The low price of this treatment and the fact that it doesn't remove tooth enamel makes it one of the best ways to have your teeth whitened. It is also the most widely known treatment, so detailed information about it and the dental offices which provide the service is readily available.

As every person is different, so is the color of their teeth. Some persons have pearly white teeth, while others have not been so lucky. That is why, before choosing such a whitening procedure, a visit to the dentist is compulsory. Smokers, persons who drink a lot of coffee and tea and those who fail to brush their teeth properly are the one who frequently undergo such treatments.

The bleaching procedure is a relatively simple one. First, your dentist will recommend ...
... an appropriate treatment type. Afterwards, if the teeth are suited for a bleaching procedure, the dentist will put a rubber shield over your gums which will protect the tissue from any damage. Then he/she will apply the bleaching substance using a special tray that will fit the patient's mouth. When the procedure ends, the patient will be given some instructions about how he should continue the treatment at home. The patient will also be provided additional whitening trays for the in-home treatment.

The active ingredients used in bleaching include carbamide peroxide and hydrogen peroxide. When the active ingredient starts to break apart, the oxygen goes inside the enamel of the teeth and the tooth is subsequently whitened. Treatments like this can produce results in short or long periods of time, depending on whether the patient receives self-treatment or professional treatment.

If you are an impatient type, an at-home treatment is probably not for you. In-office teeth whitening treatments produce dramatic and relatively quick results. An eight-hour take home product is also available, for those not quite able to afford an in-office treatment. You apply it during the night and it will perform the whitening while you are asleep. This treatment will last no more than a week.

Laser teeth whitening is one of the fastest whitening treatments currently available. As in the case of bleaching, the dentist will place a rubber shield that will protect the gums and the tissue from damage. The whitening substance will be then applied. The laser light will be used to boost the effect of the chemicals applied on the surface of the teeth. The whiter color will be achieved in about one hour. However, the dentist's permission is necessary for this treatment.

Following the treatment, the teeth may be more sensitive to cold and hot foods and beverages, but this sensation will pass in few days.

Eventually, every patient will have to return to their cosmetic dentist for a follow-up whitening procedure.

However, cosmetic dentistry still holds the best solution. Cosmetic dentists have perfected the laser whitening for teeth procedure to the extent that patients can expect instant and dramatic results with minimal of pain.

The results can be quite long lasting with proper care, but they won't last forever. It can last you for several years if you brushing your teeth twice a day with whitening toothpaste. Report any symptoms to your dentist. If problems are caught early on, they may be easier to fix.

If you are intent on having that great and beautiful smile, you can set up a budget just for the laser whitening for teeth procedure. Once you see the result, you will say that your money was well spent. Regular brushing and check-ups are also important. You may also need to avoid certain foods, stop smoking or take other measures to make sure your smile stays white, bright and dazzling for years to come.
