Carbohydrates are a part of food and are the most commonly available part of food. They are found in numerous types of food and are required by each and every living being. Carbohydrates are complex compounds that contain carbon, hydrogen and oxygen in a given form, there might also be other impurities in the structure. The easiest form of the carbohydrate is sugar. Sugar is also complex since it has different forms; sugars are usually considered to be either monosaccharide or polysaccharides. Glucose and fructose are some of the simplest sugars there is in the foods.

Carbohydrates are broken down by the body to release energy, and thus they also go by the name of energy giving foods. In all body building programs, the carbohydrate is needed for successful results. Deficiency of carbohydrates in the body usually leads to fatigues during practice. When the body if fed with lots of carbohydrates, the excess is stored in the form of fat and when exercising the fat reserves are relied on for energy and thus the term ’burning fat’ will be quite common in body building. It is necessary that one keeps a check on their fat index so as not to grow obese.
