As people are getting more hooked on to video games in mobiles and in the online virtual worlds online, Sony is working harder to find new games that will bring back the popularity of its latest home video game console, the PlayStation3 or the PS3. Although Sony has sold an astonishing 48 million consoles since its launch in November 2006, they have started to feel that they are loosing out to the latest mobile gadgets in the past two years. The mobile phone is a necessity in this age which you can also use for various other purposes, one of them being playing games. The PS3 or any other console is an extra investment which many are not too much in favour of when there are other options available. This is putting pressure on the makers to make newer games that will give a unique, out of the world experience to its users.

The latest 3d game from Sony is the ‘Uncharted 3’ where you can get a vivid real life experience with the hero being surrounded with glowing embers, smoke and then desperately running from the raging fire. According to the manufacturers, people while playing, want to get involved in the entire experience. ...
... They no longer just want to play a game, they want to be in the game themselves. When Sony found its user generated 2008 game, ‘Little Big Planet’ a big hit, it got the idea that people prefer games in which they can get more involved by setting up races, battle challenges and of course, missions. Therefore the ‘inFAMOUS 2’, a game designed for the PS3 that allows players to get involved by letting them create their own missions which they can share with other PS3 players through an online community, is being greatly advertised.

With these user generated games that also provide breathtakingly real visuals (with the help of 3d), Sony is looking to capture the market again. Also in line to be released sometime later in this year are these 3d games: the racing game, ‘MotorStorm Apocalypse’ and the shooter game, ‘Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One’. Hopefully these 3d games will bring back the popularity of the PS3 again.
