Getting green card for my mother:
Parents generally would like to spend the rest of their lives with their children. Before sponsoring green card for your mother, you should make sure all the basic requirements are met. Eligibility:
To be eligible to petition your mother, you have to be a US citizen above 21 years of age and you should have obtained US citizenship. Generally the family based green card process is a two step process .The first step to get a green card for your mother is to file the immigration petition with form I -130 with the USCIS. This is done to establish the relationship between your mother, the applicant, and you, the US citizen petitioner. After the approval of the petition by the USCIS that has been filed for your mother, your mother will be provided with an immigrant visa number. In case a visa number becomes available for your mother and she is outside the Unites States, your mother will be required to go the US consulate having jurisdiction over her place of residence to process of the green card or immigrant visa process.
Further proof legal and emotional ties with your mother should be established when filing the form I 130. The following documents should be submitted:
• birth certificate showing the beneficiary as your natural mother .
• If name change has been made for the beneficiary, proof of the same
• evidence of legal ties with the natural father.
• If step mother, marriage certificate to your natural father.
• evidence to prove the termination of any previous marriages of either parents .
• If adopted, decree of adoption before the age of 16 .
• a statement to prove that you have lived with your parents with a list of places and times.
• Enough proof that you will meet the income requirement of the sponsor. When your mother is scheduled for the immigrant visa interview with the consular office or when your mother is about to submit an application of adjustment of status, what ever the case may be, you will have to complete the from I 864 which is the Affidavit of support.
Once the I 130 application is approved, you may get green card for your mother. The immigrant visas available for family members is generally limited, it is better to apply well in advance if you are really keen on bringing your mother to the US.
