Designer’s Guide To Remain Focused
At times when the distractions become dominant the designer finds it more difficult to remain focused. The distractions usually lead to delay in the completion of the project and may lead to an irritated client. Some of the ways to remain focused on the completion of the project are as follows.
When the enthusiasm dries up:
Usually when the project is taken at hand, it is because of enthusiasm that the designer tries to complete the project. As the work progresses there are chances that some parts of the project may be liked by the designers while others may be hated. Most of the designers would like to strike a balance between the parts they like and the parts they hate. There are still some other designers who like to first handle the part they hate and then the part they like.
Relevance of Breaks:
At time sitting forth the monitor for hours together becomes monotonous and this leads to disliking the task taken at hand. A short break between the long hours of work can get rid of the boredom. If you get rejuvenated the quality of productivity is going to increase. There is a great possibility of the ...
... quantity also increasing. Short breaks refresh your mind and allow you to see the task in a different perspective. The breaks should not be so often that it leads to distraction, interruption and finally waste of time, money and resources. The duration of the break and the time between two consecutive breaks differs from person to person and from task to task.
Avoid Interruptions:
In this age of internet and mobile phones there are many people who would like to contact you for one or the other reason. These sorts of people could become a nuisance if you were compelled to receive their phones or messages especially when you are completely engrossed in your work. Everyone knows how irritating it is when anyone breaks the concentration of mind. Most of the professionals either put off their mobiles or keep them on mute. The instant messages are received but not responded until the task is completed.
Sitting arrangement:
If the sitting arrangement is too crowded, the chances of distractions increase a lot. It is a human tendency to talk and socialize if made to sit close. The number of people on floor is usually directly proportional to the magnitude of distractions.
Breaking into parts:
When you look at the project as a single unit it may seem too big to be completed within the stipulated time. On the other hand if you divide the task into smaller task and individually approach each task, the task will never seem to be difficult to be completed.
Marking of each task as it gets completed motivates the designer to complete the task as soon as possible.
