Having back pains is not easy for someone who needs to do a number of jobs requiring physical activities. It’s not just because he can’t move freely, but it’s more of the pain that he will feel every time that he needs to work. Some first aid treatments and exercises can help but may not work with severe back pains. Here are some effective ways to try when conventional approaches seem to be ineffective:
1. Traction- this involves using weights to apply constant or intermittent force to gradually “pull” the skeletal structure into better alignment. However, it is not recommended for treating acute low back symptoms.
2. Acupuncture- it is an alternative medicine that involves the insertion of needles the width of a human hair along precise points throughout the body. It is said to relieve pain, treat infertility, treat and prevent disease, promote general health, or can be used for therapeutic purposes.
3. Ultrasound therapy- this uses high-energy sound waves (those above the range we hear) to help ease painful joints and muscles. It is done by is done by a physical therapist or occupational therapist ...
... who guides the waves into the body from the head of an ultrasound machine.
4. TENS unit- stands for transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation; it is one of the modern equipments used to lessen and to remove pains. These are battery-operated devices that send electrical impulses to certain parts of the body to block pain signals. TENS units should only be used under the direction of a doctor, physical therapist, or occupational therapist as the knowledge of how to use the products is extremely necessary to ensure its effectiveness.
There are now many other alternative strategies on treating back pains. Some equipments such as a tens machine are even easy to find in online stores. But to be safe, it is still best to consult therapists before trying other treatment options.
