A receptionist is a part of internal branding of a company. She represents the values of your office and the company as a whole through the way she communicates with the guests. A receptionist is the one who greets the guests and customers, manages the phone calls and handles customer queries and enquiries. Receptionists manage the professional environment and security of the office by monitoring the access of the visitors. Thus a receptionist's resume should have certain vital points of a customer service resume too. She should be good at customer service.

The major role of a receptionist is to welcome the visitors, clients, guests. She routes the telephone calls to the respective people and provides clerical support in the office.

People who enjoy working in a personal interface environment and with customers will feel motivated and find it challenging to work in this position.

Minimum educational qualification for a receptionist is a high school diploma. Some companies seek for receptionist who excels in skills like proficiency in MS Work, Excel and PowerPoint and telephone board operation. She should have the aptitude to understand the office technology. She should be comfortable with personal computers, email, copy machines and fax machines.

She should have the ability to develop positive and professional relationship with clients, visitors and employees. She should be able to manage sensitivities of the people she connects with.

A receptionist is the face of the organization thus has a crucial role to play.
