Although it is spring now, the weather is still very cold. A cup of warm tea is effective against the cold, but not all tea is useful. If the elderly want to drink tea, it is suggested to drink black tea.

American Health Care Association study found that the ability of regulating or keeping body temperature of the elderly in the cold environment is relative to the Ferrum content they have taken in from daily diet. The 100 old people participated in an experiment and they only take in one third of Ferrum according to the regulation of doctors. It results in the general decrease of body temperature by 0.5 degrees Celsius after one month. Experts said that Ferrum involves in the body temperature regulation, so the ability of keeping body temperature is closely related with Ferrum people have take in daily. Tea belongs to alkaline substance, which could consume the Ferrum after it enters into the human body. Therefore, large amount of drinking tea could lead to the loss of Ferrum and make people more vulnerable to cold in early spring.

The flower teas such as jasmine and chrysanthemum tea and green teas are cold and ...
... cool in nature. If people drink them, the inner quality of heat will be taken away and result in the decrease of body temperature, which makes the elderly get cold and irresistible to various diseases. Studies from Japan have already confirmed that, if the body temperature decreases by 1 degree Celsius, immunity will be reduced by 30%, while an increase of 1 degree Celsius could make immunity increase 5 to 6 times. Once the immunity declines, it is easy to get colds, pneumonia, bronchitis, cholecystitis and other diseases. In addition, the morbidity of asthma, dermatitis and other allergic diseases and ulcerative colitis, and rheumatism and other autoimmune diseases will increase.

Experts also have suggested that old people should drink little tea in winter. Appropriate intake of iron-rich foods such as black fungus, kelp, seaweed, soy and pork liver, or some calorie-rich foods, such as lamb, chicken meat and date porridge is very beneficial to the elderly.
