Mjets Plan Private Jet Terminal In Phuket, Thailand
Phuket, Thailand: MJETS, the leading private jet charter service in Thailand and South East Asia, has announced plans to build a private jet terminal at Phuket International Airport.
The announcement follows the success of MJETS’ first private jet terminal at Don Muang Airport in Bangkok.
The private terminal in Bangkok opened in March 2010 and has a 186 square metre executive lounge, shower facilities, a business centre, flight planning services and pilot briefing rooms.
“Since MJETS opened its first terminal at Don Muang, the number of private jets landing there has increased from 25 to 40 flights per month” commented Jaiyavat Navaraj, MJETS’ executive chairman.
“The venture at Phuket International Airport could put Phuket on the map for private aviators in the region” he added.
The proposed terminal in Phuket features an executive lounge, immigration counters, hangars for parking private jets and full ground services for crew and passengers.
The size of the terminal will depend on how much land the Airport Authority of Thailand agree to lease to MJETS.
“Currently ...
... there are around 30 to 35 private jets landing at Phuket International Airport every month. This is only an average figure. In a high season month there could be as many as 60. Phuket is a diamond among tourist destinations in the region. It is also conveniently located near regional business centres like Singapore, Bangkok and Kuala Lumpur. It also has a complete network of billionaire’s toys, which include luxurious villas, hotels and yachting facilities,” continued Navaraj.
"If we develop the right facilities here, the island can become a regional hub for private aviation. People who hire private jets demand a lot of convenience and speed. They could use commercial flights, but they do not like to spend three hours at an airport, checking in and passing immigration and baggage collection points every time they travel,” he concluded.
Earlier this month MJETS won the contract to act as Thailand’s official Cessna aircraft service facility.
