A recent article in CNNMoney made a striking point: "The rich are different from you and me: They're buying real estate." You don't have to look to CNN to see this though. While most of us are still getting back on our feet financially, the rich are of buying and selling million-dollar homes, and even eating up some of the good deals out there.

There is good news, however; this is NOT the case for Playa del Carmen villas. New villas in nice, up-and-coming areas of Playa del Carmen, just south of Cancun on one of the world's most beautiful beaches, are available for very accessible prices. Not only are the prices within the average budget, but there are also many other advantages such as immediate use on payment of a $30,000 USD deposit, mortgages available from Mexican bank institutions, again, with immediate possession upon approval and payment of the $60,000 USD deposit, short-term financing from developers, and an overall price that is below 60% of similar units in established communities.

One development of Playa del Carmen villas in particular offers buyers a very comfortable 1600 square feet of living space, ample terrace space and a rooftop patio with private access from the master bedroom. The oversized master bedroom makes up the entire 3rd floor. There are only 6 units, and they share a very large yard space, and a large pool, with a shaded poolside lounge. The complex is located in a new gated community, and within 5 minutes of 2 of Playa del Carmen's professional golf courses; the area offers a total of 13. Downtown Playa del Carmen and the city's two newest shopping areas are also within a 10 minute drive.

The price is just over $200,000 USD.

The higher values of similar properties in other parts of the city, the emergence of the community and area as the newest upscale part of Playa del Carmen, and the quality of the properties all point to a very good likelihood of value increase as well.

So, while back home, we see the real estate market for the rich thriving (CNN pointed out that sales of homes and condos worth over million-dollar rose on average over 18% in the 20 major metro areas), Playa del Carmen offers you something that just doesn't seem within reach anymore; high-quality real estate, in a very good location, at a price you can afford.
