T-Mobile myTouch 3G and myTouch 4G are the two most raved and talked phones from HTC family of smartphones. Both the phones are tech savvy doing quite well in the US market with their unique features and latest technology. Both function on GSM Technology, while myTouch 3G announced in 2009, June, the myTouch 4G announced in 2010, October. The myTouch 4G is a revamped version of my Touch 3G. The biggest improvement of myTouch 4G over myTouch 3G is the inclusion of Video player and secondary camera which was missing in the latter.

Both of myTouch 3G and myTouch 4G contain Audio Player, Camera, Bluetooth, Speakerphone, and Touch screen, GPS, GPRS and 3G. The myTouch 3G is a lighter and smaller device whereas myTouch 4G is a bit sturdy and solid. Here we can differentiate these two high tech devices based on various features:

Connectivity

• HSCSD- The myTouch 4G lacks HSCSD, whereas, T-Mobile myTouch 3G has got these features.

• EDGE- The myTouch 4G offers EDGE while the T-Mobile myTouch 3G provides Class 10, 236.8 kbps EDGE.
• Wi-Fi- Wi-Fi or Wireless Fidelity is a wireless data networking protocol generally used to connect PCs and laptops to a network. The myTouch 4G has Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, DLNA WLAN and the T-Mobile myTouch 3G comes with WiFi 802.11 b g WLAN.
• HSDPA- HSDPA (High Speed Download Packet Access) technology represents an upgrade of the UMTS network. HSDPA, with its higher speed of data transfer, surpassing even ADSL transfer speeds, offers a more capable mobile broadband access to the internet, e-mail and information systems. The myTouch 4G has got HSDPA, 14.4 Mbps and HSUPA, 5.76 Mbps 3G whereas the myTouch 3G provides HSDPA, 7.2 Mbps and HSUPA, 2 Mbps 3G.
• The 3G – This feature in the mobile phones helps in faster downloads. The T-Mobile myTouch 4G offers SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, Push Email, IM Messaging and the T-Mobile myTouch 3G possesses SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email, and Instant Messaging. MMS enables content distributors to push audio-visual content to mobile phones. The most common types of content are video messaging and ringtones. The multimedia messaging service helps users to send video, photos, images, text and sound all together in one very easy to create MMS and send it to any other MMS capable cellular phone.
• GPRS- GPRS is a packet-switched technology that enables high-speed wireless Internet and other data communications The myTouch 4G contains GPRS while the T-Mobile myTouch 3G has Class 10 (4+1 3+2 slots), 32 48 kbps GPRS..
• miniUSB -The myTouch 4G comes with miniUSB v2.0 whereas the T-Mobile myTouch 3G has miniUSB. Universal Serial Bus is an external bus standard that supports data transfer rates of 12 Mbps.
• GPS (Global Positioning System) - It is the utilization of orbiting satellites to transmit signals to a GPS receiver to calculate the location, speed, direction, and time. GPS is widely used as a navigation tool. A GPS is useful for more than just route-following. In emergencies their usefulness is unparalleled. The myTouch 4G provides with A-GPS support whereas the myTouch 3G offers GPS.

• Camera- The myTouch 3G does not have Secondary Camera, whereas myTouch 4G provides VGA video call camera Secondary Camera. The T-Mobile myTouch 4G has 5 MP, 2592 x 1944 pixels, autofocus, LED flash Camera while the myTouch 3G comes with 3.15 MP, 2048x1536 pixels, autofocus Camera. Autofocus is a feature of some cameras and other optical systems that allows a correct focus on the subject to be obtained automatically.

Display
• Screen- The myTouch 4G has got TFT capacitive touch screen, 16M colors Display Type and the T-Mobile myTouch 3G contains TFT capacitive touch screen, 65K colors Display Type.
• Display Size- The myTouch 4G possesses 480 x 800 pixels, 3.8 inches Display Size while the myTouch 3G offers 320 x 480 pixels, 3.2 inches Display Size.
• Display features-The myTouch 4G provides Accelerometer sensor for UI auto-rotate, Optical track pad and Swype input method Display Features whereas the myTouch 3G has Accelerometer sensor for autorotate Display Features.

Processing and Memory
• Processor- The myTouch 4G comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8255 1 GHz processor CPU while the myTouch 3G has got Qualcomm MSM 7201A 528 MHz processor CPU.
• microSD card- The myTouch 4G contains 4GB internal storage and microSD, up to 32GB, 8GB included Card slot whereas the myTouch 3G possesses 192 MB RAM, 512 MB ROM Internal Memory microSD (TransFlash), 4GB included,

Battery back up
• The myTouch 4G has Standard battery possesses Up to 10 h Battery Talk time and has got Up to 432 h Stand-by while the T-Mobile myTouch 3G contains Up to 6 h Battery Talk time and Up to 600 h Stand-by.
Size and weight
• Dimensions- The myTouch 4G offers 121.9 x 55.9 x 10.9 mm dimensions while the Touch 3G possesses 113 x 56 x 14.7 mm Dimensions.

• Weight- The myTouch 4G is a bit heavier weighs 141.8g as compare with myTouch 3G which weighs116 g.
All in all both myTouch 4G and myTouch 3G are the most successful phones of their times and still popular among their ardent fans for their unique features and usability.
