In the old days DJs had to carry around the same large, heavy equipment that bands used. Even the music was heavy to carry around. Record albums and tapes, then CDs. The only advantage was that big, heavy equipment was expensive and the only DJ services were true professional companies.
Now, just about anyone with a little technical knowledge can buy inexpensive gear and make some extra money playing at small parties and even wedding dances. Small operations often download unlicensed music off the internet, not realizing that they are usually missing the full sound mix (all 16 channels of sound). And they are violating copyright.

That means there are many small companies and one-man shows with inferior free music, cheap sound gear and a 12 dollar website competing with other Edmonton DJ services.

Most clients looking for a Edmonton Wedding DJ are interested in price. How much does the Wedding DJ cost? If price is the only thing that matters, then people would just phone a bunch of DJs from the web or yellow pages and hire the cheapest one.

However, most people are reluctant to do that. Everyone knows ...
... that when you purchase something the cheapest item usually has shortcomings. So do you get DJ prices and then hire the most expensive one? Again, many people assume the most expensive is the best, however, sometime you end up paying for the name and a slick marketing campaign.

The best advice when hiring an Edmonton Wedding DJ is to see how many questions the professionals ask you. A professional DJ service needs to find out as much information as possible about you and your event to put together an appropriate DJ package. The more information the Edmonton DJ service has the more personal they can make the experience.

Here are some tips when hiring an Edmonton Wedding DJ:

1. Set A Budget. You will hear a variety of prices from different services.

2. Do your Research. Talk to friends and colleagues who have used an Edmonton Wedding DJ. Call a variety of companies and decide on just a few that you want to explore further. Ask for references from recent clients.

3. Make sure your DJ is licensed and has access to licensed music.

4. When you finalize your plans and event, get it in writing. A professional Edmonton Wedding DJ will be able to create a contract for you.
