Trim Gutter Steel Buildings
Trim, for steel buildings, serves two purposes. First, it is used to protect transition points or spots where two building components are joined together. Second, it gives your steel prefab buildings a more refined and sophisticated look. The first purpose is intentional while the second one is incidental.
Trim pieces are engineered to perfectly fit transition areas in order to tightly seal small gaps where air and water can enter. Water can potentially damage the contents of the building. If the building is insulated, air and water coming in may make the insulation less effective, defeating its purpose.
Examples of trims are eave trims and rake trims. An eave trim is used to seal the connection between the sidewall and roof, while a rake trim joins the end wall and roof. It is of primary importance to ensure that trims are engineered to fit the specific dimensions of a particular steel frame building.
Trims with hemmed edges are ...
... preferable from straight-edged ones. One advantage is that they are more attractive because they give the building a smooth finish. In addition, they are not prone to rust unlike trims with straight edges.
Jamb Cover Trim
Using jamb cover trim is an inexpensive way to cover the red-iron jamb and header of a framed door. Though its main purpose is decorative, it still offers protection for your steel building.
Gutters and Downspouts
Gutters and downspouts should not be treated as mere accessories for steel buildings because they serve a very important purpose. They promote proper drainage and prevent water from coming inside the building. Gutters and downspouts channel water runoff away from the metal building structure, thus, preventing water and mud from splashing against the walls.
Ridge Caps
Ridge caps are used to cover the peak of steel buildings by joining the roof panels together. Die-formed ridge caps are better than a ridge roll trim that must be sealed with closures. Ridge caps should be precision engineered to perfectly fit the steel building’s roof pitch. Aside from enhancing the appearance of steel buildings, they also prevent entry of water and pests.
