How The Iraq War Has Caused A Backlash

There has been a backlash in the Arab world against the United States as well as other nations who supported the Iraq War. This was a war that the United States and some allies entered into to rid the world of the possibility of Saddam Hussein getting his hands on weapons of mass destruction. Because it came on the heels of the terrorist attack on September 11, 2001, it was easier to get the American people to get behind the war. There are those who say that the Iraq war was fought for the sake of oil only. In addition, there has been a wave of anti-semiticism across the country as well, blaming Israel for all of the problems in the Middle East.

Anti-Semiticism should be studied in full because this is how the Holocaust occurred. A post-WWI Germany was in such dire financial straits that they elected Hitler to power as Chancellor. He then targeted Jews as being the source of all problems, promoted anti-semiticism and gradually removed all of their property and rights, eventually killing some 6 million of them before the end of the war. ... many years. This hatred is now concentrated in the Middle East as the countries surrounding Israel grow more unstable and more determined to wipe this country off the face of the map, as the current leader of Iran says he will do once he gets his hands on nukes.

In actuality, a good reason for the Iraq War was to establish a military base in the United States so that they can protect their interests in this region of the world. The US was successful at not only ousting Saddam Hussein, but also his sons, all of whom are now dead. Whenever the United States in the past has occupied other nations where they liberated people or fought to defend themselves, they have established a military base in that nation as well as rebuilt the damage that they caused. They did this in Western Germany and Japan, both of which have thriving economies today as well as a democratic government. However, there are many on the left who want us to withdraw from Iraq and not establish any sort of military presence there.

While it can be debatable as to whether or not the war was warranted, the truth of the matter is that Saddam Hussein was a killer of his own people, slaughtered millions and was seeking to destroy other countries, even after the Gulf War in 1990. The United States has a military presence in Iraq and has tried to establish a democratic government in the region. If the troops pull out now, then the region risks being taken over by Iran or one of the other nations over there that are comprised of radical Islamists. This will not only be detrimental to Israel, a close ally of the United States, but also to the entire region of which a great deal of the west depends on for oil. Those who do not like the idea of blood being shed because of anything to do with oil should try to run their cars or heat their homes without it.
