After the super success of James Cameron's Avatar, 2009 witnessed a boost in the number of 3D cinema screens. 2010 was the year of 3D TV, with Sky announcing a dedicated 3D channel and Samsung winning the race by releasing the first 3D LED TV sets thus bringing a revolution in the home viewing experience. Come 2011 and 3D TV has finally a reality in living rooms with all the major names launching their 3D TV models. Then came Panasonic unveiled 3D television for home use in Japan. And in the queue were Sony, Toshiba and Sharp.

2010 was indeed a bumper year for 3 dimensional TV but were the consumers ready to sit down to watch TV in goggles and to shell out extra bucks for blu-ray and other devices?
