The number of basketball fans has increased dramatically in the past several years, more and more people wear cheap NBA jerseys to watch live basketball games in stadiums. Here is a main description of the history of basketball.
The history of basketball can be traced back to 1890's. In the December of 1891, a minister on the faculty of a college for YMCA professionals called Dr. James Naismith sought a vigorous indoor game to keep his students occupied and at proper levels of fitness during the long New England winters. After rejecting other ideas as either too rough or poorly suited to walled-in gymnasiums, he wrote the basic rules and nailed a peach basket onto a 10-foot (3.05 m) elevated track. Unlike today's basketball net, a peach basket was used to in games and at that time they use a soccer ball instead a basketball to shoot goals.
On January 20th, 1892, nine basketball players ...
... took part in the first official professional basketball game held in the YMCA gymnasium and its court is the half of today's basketball court. "Basket ball", the name suggested by one of Naismith's students, was popular from the beginning. All the players choose to wear nba basketball jerseys in games. Women's basketball began in 1892 at Smith College when Senda Berenson, a physical education teacher, modified Naismith's rules for women.
The early basketball fans were keep steps with YMCAs to each American cities and basketball spread the United States and Canada in a short time like wild fire. By 1895, it was well established at several women's high schools. While the YMCA was responsible for initially developing and spreading the game, within a decade it discouraged the new sport, as rough play and rowdy crowds began to detract from the YMCA's primary mission. Soccer balls were originally used in the early basketball games. The first balls made specifically for basketball were brown, and it was only in the late 1950s that Tony Hinkle invented n orange ball that was more visible for players and spectators. Today's basketballs are also orange.
At the early stage of basketball's development, the original basketball games didn't include dribbling except for the "bounce pass" to teammates who wear David Garrard jerseys. Passing the ball was the primary means of ball movement. Dribbling was eventually introduced but limited by the asymmetric shape of early balls. It is until the 1950s did dribbling become a major part of basketball games because the ball shaped was improved by advanced manufacturing.
Basketball is a sport invented purely by North Americans, now it is a worldwide popular game. It is necessary for basketball players to get known of the basketball history which can help them enjoy basketball to some extent.
