Fiji is an absolute "must visit" tropical paradise. and yes, its as safe as ever, despite the 2006 coup. The recent devaluation of the Fiji dollar has made it more of a bargain than ever before! Regardless of whether you are wanting to chill out on a beach, or holiday in luxury, Fiji has it all. Choose from one of the many tropical, sun-kissed blue lagoon islands in the Mamanuca or Yasawa Island groups, or any of the 5 star resorts or quality holiday house on Denarau, or around the coast line and hills of Viti Levu.

Its highly recommended that you sample more than just the amazing white-sand beaches, as Fiji has a variety of activities that will not disappoint you. Enjoy white water rafting clear and clean waterways, trek in the luxuriant tropical rainforests, visit welcoming tribal villages, and experience sustainable living, or immerse yourself in the unique culture and rich history. For the more indulgent, take a cruise out on the ocean in a tour boat and discover some of the 300+ island paradises that nature has blessed Fiji with.

Fiji Holiday Houses

When travelling as a family, couples or in ...
... a group of 2 or more people, its highly recommend that you book a self-catering holiday house, also known as vacation villas if you're from North America. Holiday houses vary from budget priced for the more modest homes, to extreme luxury for the rich and famous. No matter what house you book you will ensure a great private holiday as generally speaking all come with cleaning staff and a gardener - ensuring a truly relaxing vacation!

Denarau Island, Pacific Harbour, Coral Coast, and the Sunshine Coast in particular have a broad range of budget to luxury holiday homes to house all types of groups, whether it be individually, together, or several houses all close to each other. Each property price online specifies what's included,= and typically all linens, towels, and daily cleaning (except on Sundays) is part of the deal, but be sure to look and see exactly what is included relative to each accommodation.

Luxury Resorts

Fiji has many quality and luxury resorts from large popular branded operators to boutique and exclusive privately owned resorts. The beauty of a resort is that all your meals are available on site and typically a lot of activities are included in the nightly rate, such as kayaking, snorkelling, non-powered boats, swimming pool(s) and sometimes tennis courts or petanque. Most resorts offer free pick up from the Airport and drop off, and also transportation options to different parts of the island.

Resorts typically attract couples on a romantic getaway, although some of the larger more commercial resorts cater perfectly for family holidays with daily kids programmes to ensure Mum and Dad has a vacation as well! Some resorts cater very well for weddings on site and can accommodate the whole wedding party at the resort - which is certainly a brilliant way to celebrate a marriage.

When To Vist Fiji

The best times to holiday is during the Fijian winter or dry season, from May to October when there is lower rainfall and humidity, milder temperatures and less risk of tropical cyclones. This is high season and airfare and accommodation costs peak in June and July. November, February and March are low season, the best time to get deals on both flights and accommodation.

How To Get There

Fiji is located in the South Pacific, 4,450 km southwest of Honolulu and 1,770 km north of New Zealand. Flight time to Fiji is 10 hours from Los Angeles; four hours from Sydney; 3 hours from Auckland; and about six hours from Honolulu. Visitors must have a valid ongoing or return airline ticket and your passport must be valid for six months beyond your intended stay. New Zealand and Australians don't require visas, nor do visitors from most developed countries. However, be sure to check your country's passport requirements well before arrival.
