Strengthening Vocational Schools
Vocational schools offer training courses mostly based on manual labors, practical skills and also the courses that are devoid of complete academic background or concepts. Courses on blacksmith and masonry are examples of what are offered in these trade schools.
Vocational schools in the third world countries not only need respective government assistance but also serious strengthening. It has been noted that most of the African third world counties register overwhelming school dropout rates due to unbearable conditions such as lack education finances, sicknesses, and mode of livelihood such as the nomadic pastoralists which does not restrict the nomads to permanent locationality. Such factors have primarily contributed to the almost collapsing situations of the schools.
Some African countries have totally failed in their maintenance of the vocational schools in their areas leading to total collapse of these programs. The few grandaunts from these third world areas have not only secured stable livelihoods but also motivated few of their clansmen to pursuing these courses that are now being viewed as life changing ...
... opportunities.
Strengthening these schools means that the challenges facing them will be combated. Things like weak organization systems, lack of training instructors in the schools or even lack of tutors who are oriented with the new and sophisticated skills to lecture on these schools and also lack of community commitment should be dealt with effectively.
Furthermore, lack of funds and administration accountability systems and structures, inappropriate instructional resources, and inadequate sources of financial support by the government for vocational school only shows that these schools are not well prepared to effectively execute their role. The only way of achieving the goals of strengthening these vocational schools is a public mobilization aware campaign.
Under these campaigns various stakeholders are invited to take part in mobilization of both the public and the private sector towards sustainability and management of vocational training centers countrywide. By the mere fact of strengthening and enlightening peoples on the importance of the technical trade trainings in these third world regions, many third world inhabitants will start embracing college setups to an extend of quitting their negative attitudes and also their revered cultures.
A number of vocational schools should then be increased in most regions so as to allow most people in these third world countries to get access to them.
