The credit score is the financial assessment of a person in terms of his credits. It is the evaluation of his credit worthiness which can be calculated from the assets, debts and overall financial history of the person. The credit rating estimates how financially strong a person, a corporation or a country is. The credit score can range depending on the person's financial dealing. A person with a high credit score will have benefits like low interest rates when taking a loan.

When a person applies for a loan, the bank will check for his credit rate. This is to make sure that the person has the ability to pay back the debt. There are credit bureaus which accept and store and calculate a person's use of credit. The software program developed by Fair Isaac Corporation (FICO) is used by the major credit bureaus like Experian, Equifax and TransUnion to decide a person's credit score. FICO has a credit score range from 300 to 850 in which they rate a credit score from excellent to poor. The factors which affect a person's credit ratings include his spending and saving patterns, ability to pay a loan, debts etc.
