It's easy to get stuck running the same life pattern, go to work, get the shopping, get a takeaway, stay in, watch the television, go to the pub, chat about the adventures your will have someday. For most of us, someday is code for NEVER. It is a way to delay, put off, what you believe is beyond you, too difficult, for people made of stronger stuff. It is the lazy, comfortable part of the brain talking and convincing you that what you have is enough, safe and not worth risking.

The same voice talks to most of us, me included. For years I ran these patterns. I spoke of moving to live in the mountain, Verbier in the Swiss Alps no less, of learning to fly and soar over glaciers and mountaintops. I would get a luxury Verbier chalet or luxury Verbier apartment with spectacular views, and access to adventures I had never dreamed of.

Always, last minute chalets and my mountain adventure plans would become a distant memory as I would be surged back into the REAL world and get a call from work for a incredibly important meeting that, if I missed, would be my worst nightmare, or a deadline that if missed, would indeed be ...
... termed my dead line. Really, would that really be my worst nightmare? Think of my context, my comfortable little world, comfy little apartment, nice car, and my holiday abroad. If that all disappeared would it be that bad. Think of it in the context of someone living in a disaster zone such as Haiti or Queensland Australia. Suddenly my worst nightmares are nothing more than a blip on the grey dull horizon. They forced me to start to think differently, to start to think about what I really wanted in life, and I wanted that life in the mountains, I wanted the adventurous lifestyle, with the alps at my doorstep, to ski Verbier everyday of winter and I wanted to soar in the sky with eagles.and, you know, I have it.

Someday, became TODAY. It isn't hard to break a pattern if you are determined enough; in fact it is pretty simple when you cannot bear to continue on a path you are unhappy with. I gave up my international corporate role, six figure salary, I amazingly had little money, a quirk of a corporate lifestyle is that you spend what you make, otherwise known as the rat race. I sold the things that I thought made me important like my car, my luxury apartment, and my motorbike. I moved to the Swiss Alps. I initially lived in a luxury Verbier apartment and now live in a luxury Verbier chalet with the Alps literally at my doorstep! I learned to paraglide, and I have soared with a family of eagles right above my house !! I don't really go to the pub anymore. I have a TV but frankly I hardly turn it on because I think it is a waste of time. My passion, my life, my love is for the mountains and all the adventures they bring. And I'm here, and the best thing is, I love it.

Now I help to make this lifestyle more accessible for others that share the same passion for the mountains. I love to be around those people even more so when I help make this happen for them.
