Accelerated programs in nursing are becoming more popular options as the entire field of nursing continues to grow and become more popular itself. You may have heard about accelerated nursing degrees before but you might not know the basic information about them that can help you see if they're a good choice for yourself. Use this guide to help get started down the path to an accelerated BSN.

Right now, nursing degrees of all kinds are the fourth most popular course of study at colleges and universities. This is a huge jump from where it used to be, and it's due to a number of factors. Salaries are being increased rapidly, there are huge job opportunities, the field is exciting and diverse, and it's also very rewarding because of how you interact with and care for other people.

There's no shortage of programs to choose between. There are some 235 schools that offer an accelerated BSN program, which means you really have your choice and you won't be needing to settle for anything. The number of programs continues to grow as well, as more schools want to get involved.

The BSN isn't the only nursing program ...
... that you can take accelerated however. If you already have another bachelor's, you can take an accelerated MSN program, and finis h that in under three years. You'll take your BSN and MSN coursework wrapped into one quick program, and you'll finish with a top level post graduate degree that will enable you to pursue any career of your choosing.

Most accelerated BSNs are also second degree programs, meaning you already hold a degree from elsewhere. If this is the case, then the BSN can take as little as 10 months to complete. But if you don't have another degree, you can still enroll with an accelerated program, but it will take more like two years to complete. That's not bad considering it's still half the time of traditional programs.

As mentioned above, one of the top reasons why nursing is so popular right now is because of the job opportunities. There is a huge demand that's going to increase for new nursing jobs over the next five to 10 years. In fact, there will be some 580,000 new or replacement RN positions becoming available in that time frame, which means ample jobs and your choice for which direction that you'd like to enter, as long as you have the right education.

Accelerated programs move ahead so quickly because they put you on a full workload schedule, with little time off in between class sessions. That means no long summer breaks, and instead, year round classes. But it means you can finish in as little as 12 months or less thanks to the bridging courses that build on your previous degree and focus on specific nursing skills and knowledge.

Embarking on a journey towards going back to school or changing careers can always be challenging, and it's hard to know which way that you should turn. Accelerated BSNs and MSNs are great opportunities because they give you a wonderful, highly desired educational background, and it gets you into the field as soon as possible, allowing you to jump on some of those job opportunities and begin a lucrative and rewarding career. To find Accelerated Nursing Programs right now as well as more info about accelerated nursing degrees visit Accelerated Nursing Guide.com
