We tend to drink a lot of coffee. Nothing new in itself, but the way we drink our coffee and what we expect it to be, is changing and subject to trends.

In the time the only personal variables were the number of lumps of sugar and the dosage of evaporated milk from the bottle next to the machine? Is drinking coffee still cosy? The potential is there of course, but it seems we are mostly occupied with our personal taste in coffee. Since some time, the coffee drinker has become very coffee quality-conscious. The exposure to other coffee cultures and the accessability of quality coffee that meets personal preferences, seem to have created a new type of coffee drinker. A consumer who doesn't want anything to do with machines that spit out plastic cups. A coffee drinker who may consider that to be beneath him.

The joy of the coffee enthusiast, as we shall call him for now, mainly lies in the variety of choice and the exclusiveness of the coffee he likes to purchase in specialized little shops that sell extremely expensive (one day we'll be saying ‘robusto priced') coffee in shiny vacuum pouches.
