Heartburn is really a burning, painful, troublesome sensation inside chest area maybe in the throat usually experienced after having a meal. While healthy individuals can experience this sensation weekly or less, if heartburn strikes two times a week or higher, it can be a symptom of a far more serious medical impairment, called acid reflux disease, generally known as gastro esophageal reflux disease (gerd).
Causes of Gastro esophageal reflux disease

Gastro esophageal reflux disease may be the consequence of two physiological malfunctions: extra acidity in the stomach and also the weakening of your lower esophageal sphincter (LES) - a ring of muscle that can a gatekeeper involving the stomach and the esophagus. In healthy individuals, the LES opens just one way, letting the swallowed munchies pass to the intestinal system while keeping the gastric juices inside. However, in reflux sufferers, the LES weakens thus allowing gastric contents to splash back (reflux) for the esophagus, burning its lining and inducing the heartburn sensation.

What may cause ...
... the weakening with the LES?

As stated before, there are certain interrelating factors and cofactors which will contribute to the weakening from the LES as well as to extra acid secretion while in the stomach. Those include:

1. Genetic tendency

2. Lifestyle patterns, including smoking (that contributes to weakening on the LES) and stress evoked either by inadequate sleep, emotional pressure or work overload. Excessive stress can trigger bloating, weaken the lymph nodes and encourage Candida overgrowth, thus adding to acid reflux disease.

3. Candida infections. Candida species normally inhabit certain areas of our body, such as the intestines as well as genitals. Whilst in a wholesome individual's body Candida are balanced through the friendly bacteria and cause no harm, under certain conditions these microorganisms set out to multiply rapidly, spreading to a lot different limbs. When Candida overgrows it may ferment and reflux the belongings in the stomach upward towards the esophagus, causing inflammation and harm to the liner of the esophagus.

4. Dietary patterns, the daily use of foods that trigger acid secretion (i. e. peppermint, tomatoes, citric fruits, chocolate etc.), foods that bring about the weakening from the LES (fats, spicy foods, chocolate) and difficult to digest foods can exacerbate acid reflux.
