Ace Your Sat Exam- Test Preparation Strategies
The Scholastic Aptitude Test, popularly called as SAT, is a prerequisite for students seeking admission in any college or university in the United States. The SAT assesses a candidate in terms of his verbal and mathematical skills and the scores produced are used by the admissions committee to get a fair idea of the candidate's scholastic aptitude.
The SAT general exam is considered to be most important. It is written by the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and is a three and a half hour long exam consisting of two major sections- Maths skills and Verbal Skills.
Possible range of scores in SAT Exams can be from 600 to 2400 out of three exams. Each section in SAT Exams is of 800 points.
As the SAT score is used by various colleges as an eligibility score it is very essential that you know your exam very well and are thorough with each section, so that you can rise par many others who are running in this rat race of college admissions.

Go through SAT study guides and sample tests to get an idea of what to expect in your SAT exam maths section and how to go about it. A few handy tips can prove beneficial:
1. Always do your calculations on a scratch sheet. It helps in building a perspective about the question.
2. In case of Geometry questions try drawing pictures.
3. In grid-in questions always remember that the questions are never negative and the can only be four bubbles long.
SAT Verbal Skills Test:
The verbal section of the SAT exam consists of three [parts- Reading comprehension, Complete the Sentence and Analogies.
A reading comprehension passage which tests the candidates ability to read and comprehend an unknown passage and answer the following items. In the second section the candidate is given a sentence with two or more blanks which the candidate needs to fill with the most suited words. The analogies section is a bit tricky and requires analytical thinking.
A few helpful tips for the SAT Exam verbal section:
Read as often as you can. Any reading material, from a magazine to a novel, can be read so as to improve your comprehension skills.
Improve your vocabulary. A good vocabulary is very essential when it comes to acing the SAT exam verbal section. Make practice tests and note the repetition trends of the words.
Remember: Practice makes a man perfect.
