The Basics Of The Toefl Exam
The Test of English as a Foreign Language, better known as TOEFL, is a test for candidates who have English as their second language and want to pursue a career in countries where English is used as the primary language of communication. It is administered worldwide by the Educational Testing Service ( ETS) since 1984 and assesses the candidate in four primary areas of English language: speaking, listening, reading and writing. The test is undertaken by more than 110 countries.
Eligibility Requirements For The TOEFL exam:
Any candidate at high school or higher level is qualified to take the TOEFL examination. Take the TOEFL exam, although the level of test is quite high.
Format Of The TOEFL Exam:
The TOEFL, is majorly administered in three formats: computer-based, paper-based and internet-based.
Computer-based Exam:

... exam, CBT includes questions such as observation of a diagram and answering the corresponding items. It takes approximately 4 hours to complete the CBT exam.

Adaptive listening
Adaptive structure
Reading comprehension
Writing
Paper-based Exam:
The paper-based exam is administered at places where computer-based testing is not available. The exam takes approximately 2.5 hours to finish.
Sections included in the exam are:
Listening:
This section consists of 3 parts. The first part contains 30 questions about short conversations. The second part has 8 questions about longer conversations and the last part asks 12 questions about lectures or talks.
Structure and Written Expression:
This section has 15 exercises of completing sentences correctly and 25 exercises of identifying errors.
Reading Comprehension:
This section has 50 questions about reading passages.
Writing:
In this section the candidate has to write one essay with 250-300 words in average.
Internet-based Exam:
TOEFL iBT was introduced in 2005 with the aim two to replace the other two formats of the exam. Every candidate answers the same range of questions and all the four sections are tested on the same day.
The sections included in the exam are:
Reading:
This section consists of 3-5 passages each containing 12-14 questions.
Listening:
This section consists of 6-9 passages containing 5-6 questions.
Speaking:
This section consists of 6 tasks and 6 questions.
Writing:
This section consists of 2 tasks and 2 questions.
What To Study For The Exam:
While preparing for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) make sure that you are covering all four sections of the exam: speaking, listening, reading and writing. You can take the references from the TOEFL study guide that will allow you familiarize with the examination format and prepare well for the examination.
