Today, many people are choosing traditional natural practices as the remedial measure for high blood pressure. Before coming to the remedial measures let's see what is high blood pressure or hypertension? Hypertension is a condition caused due to an increase in systolic or diastolic pressure which is normally 120/80 mm Hg. Lack of physical exercise, mental stress, excessive intake of alcohol, potassium and sodium in the diet are the main causes of this silent killer. Severe headache and nose bleeding are some of the symptoms shown at the later stages of the disease. Controlled lifestyle with proper medication is the best way to prevent high blood pressure.

Consumption of garlic in diet reduces the coagulation of blood platelets there by enhancing body blood circulation. This blood thinner works on many cardiovascular patients subjected with high cholesterol conditions. Including food supplements containing coenzyme Q10 is yet another remedial measure for hypertension patients. Boiled chicken, egg, beef heart and pork heart are some of the food items that contain the highest amount of coenzyme Q10. But as far as vegetarians are concerned, it is not possible. So vegetarians can maintain a balanced food by taking spinach, cauliflower, carrot, alfalfa, lemon, pumpkin, bitter gourd, parsley, drumstick and sweet potato in their diet which contains a moderate amount of coenzyme Q10.
Taking fiber content rich leafy vegetables in diet is considered to be good for high blood pressure patients. Patients must also avoid too much intake of buffalo milk, sweets, salty and spicy foods in their diet. Reduction of this coenzyme is mostly seen among the old age people than in youth as it prevents the growth of cells and increases the BP. Stabilizing the homocysteine levels in the human body maintains the blood pressure to a great extend. Vitamin B 12, also known as folic acid is a good supplement for maintaining the homocysteine level.
