Autism Signs And Symptoms - Know The Fact

Autism is basically a neurological disorder, which is marked by repetitive and restricted behavior along with impaired social interaction and communication. The signs and symptoms for autism can be recognized as early as 6 months after the birth of the child. However, most of the times, this disorder is diagnosed correctly only after around two and a half or three years of age. The patients show many subtle signs and symptoms however; these become very prominent around three years of age.
Some of the more common autistic signs include abnormal sensitivity to stimulus, abnormal aggressiveness, resistance to change in normal routines, low activity as compared to normal children and many more. Such children may also have such delicate and sensitive skin that even the slightest of touches may cause them pain, and this may lead them to alienate themselves from others company for fear of pain.
Autistic conditions vary from mild to severe symptoms. Mostly autism affected patients are characterized by aloofness, and a desire to be alone. Communication and interaction is not very developed and in case of children even ...
... playing with toys or people is not seen. Often, the patients seem incapable of resolving two or more stimuli simultaneously. They may get overwhelmed easily by sudden loud sounds, or may react adversely to light or even foul smells. Changes in routine may also result in aggressive, frightening and even painful reactions from the patients.
Speech and articulation, is mostly under developed in autistic people. Instead of using language in a logical and normal manner, they may use certain phrases repetitively. They may also, show tendency to use gestures to communicate their feelings instead of speaking. They may also show abnormal expression of feelings in random situations, like laughing out loud, giggling, crying or even getting aggressive without any particular reason. These kinds of people reject society, and seem to reside in a world of their own.
Mildly autistic patients may show only mild symptoms and almost no aggression, however, in extreme conditions, even they might react quite frighteningly. Therapies for autistic people, include helping them to read, write slowly and without difficulty- this mostly helps them to regain control over their limbs- and talk out loud. Singing and playing with different toys is also encouraged. Speech and expressing emotions is particularly paid attention to in such therapies however, these take a lot of time. They are also made to live in and tolerate company.
Autistic persons, if taken care of meticulously, and helped by therapies and love, without letting them feel a sense of rejection, can actually behave quite normally!
