New product development for companies in today's world is the only way of survival in today's increasing competition. The need of such new products arises according to requirement of consumers and trends prevailing in the society. Every company needs development of more and more new products. But making a new product is not as easy a job. It needs a detailed study about the product. If you really want consumers to choose your product you should be specific about the characteristics and the most beneficial services that the product offers your customer.

According to you customers' need, new ideas arise. These ideas then have to be transformed into proper concepts. This concept has to be tested to evaluate the characteristics of the product, market cost, target and feasibility. Now most important is the product may take the best place in the market but it is not necessary that it will sell, because may be the customer doesn't need that product. It is also important to evaluate the profitability of this product.

You can ask people about their requirements. You will get some good ideas. Tell them that you are working on a project and ask their opinions and constructive ideas. If you want to choose between two or three projects and you are confused, then I will suggest putting them on email list. And ask them for their input. If they respond, you can offer them some discount on the product which is chosen finally for the development. My friend, this system will work well.

To process of New Product Development is little difficult as it is process which requires more and more research. Basically New Product Development is more research oriented than business oriented. Being business oriented it will alone prove lethal as your focus is only on your profits. But having a research oriented approach is a systematic way of doing things and you can see bigger and better picture in the future. Because of this reason only many companies have independent Research and Development teams who can do this job well for them. It is advisable for the companies which are comparatively smaller in terms to outsource process to some consulting firms. If you have some new idea, you can go to such companies that can handle such processes and will guide you whether you should go further or not.
