Shimla is a tourist destination place. It is also the Capital of Himachal state. It is situated in the North- west Himalayas. Himachal Tourism, High Mountains, snow- covered peaks, beautiful green hills and hamlets makeup Himachal Pradesh. India's most favorite Himalayan destination.
Shimla (also spelt as ‘Simla') derives its name from goddess ‘Shayamla Devi' which is another manifestation of Goddess Kali. The Capital of Himachal Pradesh came into light When the British discoverd it is 1819. It was a part of the Nepalese Kingdom. In 1864 Shimla was declared as the summer Capital of India. After Independence, Shimla became the Capital of Punjab and was later named the Capital of Himachal Pradesh. In 1903 a rail line was constructed between Kalka and Shimla.
Warm and pleasant climate in summers and mostly very cold climate in winters are the main features of Shimla weather. The average temperatures during summers (March to June) are between 140 c and 200 c and with a maximum touching about 250 c. The minimum temperature during winters (Nov to Feb) can go as low -70c with maximum never crossing 100c. You ...

Shimla has a number of places to visit, like. Jakhu Temple, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies , Tara Devi Temple, The Ridge, the Mall, Kufri, Kali Bari Temple and many more.Jakhu Temple of Lord Hanuman atop the tallest hill of Shimla. Indian Institute of Advanced Studies is one of the main attractions of Shimla town. This old building has witnessed many historical partition was finalized here. Tara Devi Temple is located at a distance of 25 KM and it comes under special tour and can be added with other areas like Institute of Advance Studies, Prospect Hill and Shiv Case. Ridge is an open space in the heart of town and offers outstanding views of the distant mountain ranges. The new Tudor library building and the others attractions are located here. The Mall is the main shopping center and hub of Shimla with Restaurants, Clubs, Banks, Bars, Post offices and most of town's significant among the tourist attractions in Shimla. Kufri an hour's drive from Shimla situated at an attitude of 2622m, it offers an excellent view of Badrinath, Kedarnath, Pirpanjal and Shivalik ranges. It is famous for Yak riding, it offers excellent facilities for skiing. Kali Bari Temple distance from Scandal Point towards general post office, there is a temple dedicated to Goddess Shyamala, who lends her name to Shimla. This temple was constructed in 1845, earlier it was on the Jakhu Hills but the British's brought it to this new site.
