There are a whole host of resin floor types and a large demand for almost all of them; however the largest demand is for the anti slip flooring variety of all of these resin floor types.

You may wonder how one makes anti slip flooring, as it is an interesting concern. If you think about it, it must be a difficult and complicated process to make an otherwise slippery flooring type into a non slip version.

Types of flooring
There are various ways of making anti slip flooring, but by far the most common method is the use an oxide or quartz on the surface to create anti slip treads. There are three major resin systems; roller coatings, screeds, and self levellers. Thickness of these resin systems are generally put at 100 and 500 microns, at 1mm to 4mm and 6mm to 9mm.
These coatings are relatively thin and therefore they create a restriction on the size of aggregate used, which impacts on the how resistant to slippage the anti slip treads are. Due to this, a general rule of thumb is imposed; the size of the aggregate used should not be twice the thickness of the general coating, as it will then be liable ...
... to be removed by movement on the surface.

For example, if you make cookies, and put chocolate chips in the mixture, once cooked, it is unlikely that running your hand over the surface of the cookie will result in removal of the chocolate chips. If however you use hazelnuts instead of chocolate chips, running your hand over the surface of the cookie will most likely remove one or two of the hazelnuts, due to their size; the majority of the nuts' surface area will be above the cookie's surface, and so will not be anchored securely within the cookie mixture.

Production method
The method of production is relatively simple, but the success of application is based quite heavily on how well prepared the surface is prior to application, and so must be taken into consideration in a serious manner. It is stated that lack of preparation may cause the coating to peel off in sheets, mainly due to a lack of connection to the lower surfaces, and too much will cause the underlying textures to show through the subsequently thin coat layer. Due to this matter of delicacy, it is advised that this stage should be conducted purely by professionals only.

The first step is to apply and roll down a first layer of primer, so that the aggregate can then be strewn across it to create the non slip layer. Here is where you can put a variance on the level of non slip ability that the floor will have; increasing the density of the scattered aggregate for a higher level of grip and lowering it for a more subtle level of non slip ability.
