There is a commonly-held misconception that, the better and more efficient a piece of computing equipment is, the more complicated it is. Of course, this misconception is also a forgivable one, because in the large majority of cases, it really is true. It does not hold true in every case, however, and it definitely does not hold true in the case of rackmount servers. Rackmount servers, individually known as a rack server, are specialized pieces of equipment that have been developed to replace desktop computers that were previously used to provide information to all the computers connected to a particular network. Rackmount servers are a great improvement in terms of hardware and efficiency over those regular desktop computers that were previously used in the capacity of servers, but they are neither difficult nor complicated to use - in fact, setting up and operating a rack server is really quite a simple task.

The foremost idea when it comes to rackmount servers is that they have been specifically designed to perform a function that previously was usually assigned to desktop computers, but for which desktop computers ...
... are most definitely not designed to handle. In addition, setting up a desktop computer to act as a server is a tedious and difficult process because, ultimately, desktop computers were never designed to act as servers. With rackmount servers, however, because they have been specifically designed to act as servers, setting up a rack server is one of the simplest tasks you will ever attempt.

The first step to setting up a rack server is to find a place to put your server. Rackmount servers, as their name suggests, are designed to be mounted on racks, making it easy to stack several servers one on top of the other. No matter how many rackmount servers you wish to set up, whether it be one or many, you will undoubtedly be able to find a multitude of storage options online, ranging from simple racks to complex cabinets.

Finally, stopping someone from tampering with your rackmount servers is as simple as obtaining a cabinet with doors that can be locked. Once you set up your rackmount servers you will only need physical access to them infrequently, so locking them up does not cause you any great inconvenience, and is an enormous advantage in helping to keep your network secure and running smoothly.

That really is all it takes to set up rackmount servers and ensure that they stay safe as they operate your network.
