Given all of the challenges and obstacles that can thwart one's progress, it makes logical sense to, at the very least, have access to an experienced second opinion. It makes even more sense if that second opinion is coming from a source that has done, or is currently doing, what you want to do. Professional life coaching provides this second opinion, not to mention strategies and resources in making life work. Professional life coaching can also offer someone to look up to, if for no other reason than to assure you that your goals and the life you want are indeed attainable.

... this with the utmost confidence as I have experienced the effects of good professional life coaching first hand. I accomplished more in a year using professional life coaching than I did in the previous five years without it. How is that for collapsing timeframes?

Over this past year I actually implemented the use of two professional life coaches. Life coach #1 (more of a career coach) was able to show me what real work looked like, what training and continued education looked like, what focus looked like, and how to build and leverage a time-saving, results-producing system. Life coach #2 was able to get me out of my own way and eliminate procrastination. He showed me what just do it looked like - the power of now.

For twenty years I had been an entrepreneur, going at it on my own. Through professional life coaching I learned how to work in a way that produced positive consistent results. I had never understood, and how to implement, words like vision, focus, and intention. Professional life coaching gave me that understanding, and nobody can ever take that away from me.

When seeking good professional life coaching, you will want to hire someone you can admire, someone who has the attitude, character, and life you desire. You will want to seek out tough love and criticism. Maintain high standards when hiring your life coach. You will encounter two types of professional life coaches in your quest; advisors and mentors. Advisors know, but a true mentor knows and does. Seek out the doers, and don't be afraid to seek out and work with the best. Ask for references and trust your gut. You're smarter than you think in selecting the right life coach.

It's okay to factor the professional life coaching fees in your decision process, but be careful to not use price as a primary factor. Professional life coaching is not a regulated industry and coaches vary greatly in experience, skill and professionalism. Cheap doesn't always equate to a bargain and expensive doesn't always equate to the best.

When you find the right life coach for you, it's important you be coachable. Give your life coach permission to demand the best out of you. Be willing to do what your coach suggests. Step outside of your comfort zone and allow them to contribute. Being coachable is a learned skill that will serve you on the road to creating a fulfilling life. Use your coach's criticism to drive you. If you're not accustomed to constructive criticism, it will take some practice in humility to receive criticism and feedback. It will take wisdom to understand it, analyze it, and appropriately act on it. When I first began to interact with my first life coach, I became more than coachable; I surrendered to his ways. Whether I agreed or not, whatever he said, I did; and because I did, I moved forward with greater velocity than I ever would have on my own. To experience maximum benefit from professional life coaching, I would recommend that you do not partake until you're ready to surrender in a similar way. Of course, don't abandon your own discretion, but be willing to do something different than what you've been doing that's when breakthroughs occur.

You can eliminate decades of frustration with good professional life coaching. A good life coach is one who tugs, leads, and pushes you to knock down milestones one after the other, occasionally landing some jabs of reality and every once in a while delivering a right-hook called truth. Considering how important the right life coach can be to creating a fulfilling life, I recommend you leave no stone unturned in your search. Start looking now.
