5 Tips For Driving In The Rain
Driving in the rain is not as easy as driving under a clear sky. Heavy downpour makes the road slippery and your driving vision blurry. In case you are caught in this situation, try to drive the car cautiously. It is also important to follow some of the tips incorporated in most car advice. Some of these are the following:
Tip Number 1. Check the road's visibility
Try to check the road's visibility before driving against a falling rain. Heavy rain reduces the visibility of the road and this could be dangerous. When the visibility is too low, do not hesitate to cancel your plans to drive.
In case the visibility of the road is still good, try to use the car's front and rear defrosters. This clears your visibility by eliminating the fogs on the car's windows caused by rain. In addition to this, keep the headlights on while driving under the rain. It helps you see the road as well as allow other motorists to know your presence from a distance and avoid possible collision.
Tip Number 2. Make sure that the wipers are working
Most car advice ...
... would always point out the importance of making sure that the windshield wipers are working well before you drive against the falling rain. Make sure to change the wiper blades when necessary. This tool provides greater visibility despite the heavy downpour. It is also advisable to use wiper blades with wider wiping capacity in this particular situation.
Tip Number 3. Drive the car in moderate speed
When you drive the car under the rain, always maintain your speed at a moderate level. This would keep you safe since the road surface is more slippery due to the flowing water. Moderate speed is also recommended since other motorists are most likely to be traveling on similar speed. Over speeding exposes you to greater risk of collision or accident.
Tip Number 4. Don't drive against running waters
Don't drive against or attempt to cross running waters. As much as possible try to avoid areas with heavy water flows. The force of the current is most of the time greater than the vehicle's weight and is capable of carrying the vehicle. Even larger SUVs and all- drive vehicles are not capable of going against the water current. Change your travel route when this situation is inevitable.
Tip Number 5. Brake earlier with lesser force
When driving under the rain and you need to stop, brake earlier and with lesser force. This increases the vehicle's stopping distance between your car and the vehicle in front. Make use of the car's turn signals so that other vehicles would be aware of the turns you make. Try to make your turns slower in this situation.
