A personal loan is a money loaned out by a bank or an institution with no specification for the monies use. Americans get these usually when all of their bills are paid and they need extra cash for general expenses.

One type of personal loan that is available, is a secured personal loan. This is loan is made when the applicant attaches an asset as collateral. This collateral can come in the form of any moveable piece of property. Generally the interests rates are low on a secured personal loan but is determined by each individuals factors. Credit Score, equity, income and asset value are some of the determining factors. Also make sure to ask about any hidden fees or charges.

Unsecured loans have a higher interest rate and a higher penalty rate because of the higher risk involved with the loan. Besides the late payment fees, the bank can also choose to take legal matters if loan payments have not been received over a certain amount of time.

Another type of personal loan that is fairly easy to obtain and quality for is a payday personal loan. These loans can range anywhere from $100.00 to $2500.00. These loans are for individuals who have less than perfect credit but have a steady paycheck. The basic qualifications for a pay day loan are to have a job that gives you a steady paycheck verifying that gives you take in a certain amount of income each month. The second qualification is that the loan applicant must have an active checking account. The loan comes with a certain interest rate and must be paid back in a certain time period.

As always when entering into a personal loan, make sure to shop around, compare personal loans and find a loan with low interest rates.
